Also, there are different bios profiles you can use to adjust fans. This is why it is recommended to manually set the fans to 100% during testing (more on this later). Does that mean our laptops are the same thermally? No. However, let’s say my fans are only spinning at 30% and his need to spin at 100% to keep his temps in that range. We both run OCCT and both are happy with our AVERAGE temps in the 70 range. For example, my friend and I each have 13r3s. As a result, if your fans aren't spinning at 100%, then your laptop COULD run at a cooler temp by spinning the fans faster. The fans will spin however fast they need to bring you into this range. You will notice that your laptop has a "target range" for temps. That's part of what this testing is about, to make sure you have a good unit while still under warranty.) (If you notice that your laptop ever turns itself off, this is not normal behavior and you should contact Dell. In other words, you cannot harm your CPU due to high temps as a result of the built-in hardware protections, because it will turn itself off before that happens. The max temp the processor will run at is 100 (TJunction ), and if it goes any hotter it will throttle and then turn itself off to prevent any damage. Also please be sure to take a screenshot and post your results no matter how good or bad to help out the community! After 10 minutes you will know your REAL temps and how good your thermals are. I recommend doing this while you are still under warranty to make sure you have a “good” unit. This is a long read, but after this you will REALLY begin to understand temps and how to test them on your 13r3.
